Hepatitis C -Silent Killer

I thought I would post a little about Hepatitis C. Most people, even drug addicts, dont understand about it.


Hepatitis C is a virus similar to Aids which kills you slowly. It slowly eats away at your liver for years silently without symptoms. It is rampant among people who used IV drugs. You may have it and not know it. It is completely symptomless. Frequently it is a diagnosis which is missed by Doctors. They do not routinely test for it in the blood tests they do.You could also get from a blood transfusion if you had one prior to about 1989. The blood supply was not tested for it before then as there was no test.


Almost 30 years AFTER I stopped using drugs I was diagnosed with Hep C. I either got it through using drugs or possibly through a blood transfusion I got about 1978.

I walked around a long time undiagnosed with this silent killer.

I believe in Miracles but I also believe in using Doctors at times.


Current anti-viral drugs have about a 40-50% chance of effecting a cure.

I am scheduled to start anti-viral therapy today. Please keep me in your prayers that I will have a complete recovery.

And if you are a young person playing around with drugs you might let this be a lesson and a warning about what can happen if you start injecting drugs.

And if you ever used IV drugs, get tested before you end up losing your liver.
