LIes,lies, and damn lies

This morning Im fed up. Im fed up with all the lies in the so-called recovery movement. If you want to read the same old thing about having a “disease’ and going to 90 meetings in 90 days go somewhere else. Its against my religion to lie to you.

I know. All the experts say addiction is a “disease”. But I know better. You know how I know. I shot dope with people like you. I know you don’t have a “disease”. The truth is you’re a rotten swine. No damn good. The truth is your evil.

That sounds kind of negative I know. But its true. Remember I drank and shot dope with the likes of you for nearly a decade and ½ .. I know about the burgalaries you did, the cars you stole, the money you took when nobody was looking. I know about the gun you stuck in peoples face. The hot credit cards you sold. The purse you snatched. Maybe even the murder you committed. How about that “friend” whose wife you had sex with . Or that person you helped get their first fix. The list is pretty long. That’s the bad news. You’re a selfish swine.rotten, hatefilled swine. .

The good news is this:

I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance" (Luke 5:29-32).

And you qualify. But you have to admit to the truth. A tepid admission that you have a “disease” isn’t going to fill the bill. Admitting that your evil is probably the most important thing you can do, and the most painful. But its also the most hopeful. You see being evil is not necessarily a permanent condition.

A minister friend of mine puts it this way:

“You cant be born again unless you admit your evil”

What it is you want? Do you want truth or lies? Do you want the old nature or do you want a new nature?
