Gay AA Meetings

Randy Thomas of Exodus International has an interesting perspective on Gay AA meetings. There is a link above and an excerpt below.
"While I empathize with your frustration, I am content to trust the Lord to use this 12 Step Program, in spite of them. I have that faith because that’s what happened to me."
I guess its an undeniable truth that some people get sober in Gay AA and then later face up to the truth of the sin of homosexualtiy. Nevertheless, I still believe AA would be better off if it didnt publish pro-homosexual literature.

Pretty amazing that you can preach that hate is the root of addictions at one spot in your blog and then go off on this homophobic nonsense here...Anybody can get together and call themselves an aa group as long as their primary purpose is to get sober. There are lots of homophobic, racist, misogynist straight white guy meetings (you can just call them real meetings, because you don't see the privilege you are taking and denying others by forcing your morals and standards on them). And don't give me that "love the sinner, hate the sin" nonsense and expect me or anyone with a wit of sense in their heads to take seriously your hypocritical rejection of hate. There need to be gay meetings and other special interest meetings precisely because of people like you and their intolerance (try doing a search on tolerance in the big book some time).

Ive heard it all before. Im a "hater" just because I hold up a moral standard. I dont hate "gays". I wish them well. They just need to face up to the reality of their sin.
Im fairly certain AA is not going to change, and neither am I. Years ago AA got along just fine without "Gay" AA meetings.
Its not enough to just get sober. You have to face up to your sin also.
As a matter of fact, I think I have more love for homosexuals than those who accept and endorse their homosexuality

Funny, all the gay aa meetings must have just sprung up between 1977 and 1984 when I came in the rooms,l because there were plenty there when I came in in and they did not seem particularly new.
The bible and hate and human definitions of "sin" have been used to justify human atrocities since the beginning. The biggest and most moral defenders of slavery used the the bible to do it. The Puritans claimed God cleared the Indians they had killed out of the land. And you will decide what resources are to be available for people who are different from you to get sober, basically taking their lives and deaths into your own hands. Who made you God, and gave you the privilege of judging other human beings? Can you see in their souls? Did you never read the part about "judge not and thou shall not be judged"? Sounds like you have an an ego problem, not a moral one. You are a hateful, close-minded hypocrite pharisee hiding your ignorance and intolerance behind a cloak of "morality." Thank God I am not a Christian. It is precisely haters like you that destroy any chance for a higher power to show love on this earth. Sure you "wish them well" as you seek to take away the lifeline that saved you because the people in the meeting are not like you in their sexuality. What do you find so threatening? Are you afraid if the meetings are their you might become one? Are you afraid to look inside yourself and see your gay brother? Why don't you try going to a gay aa meeting if your such a loving person. That is what your lord would do. Fortunately, aa is not in the hands of any one group of humans. If you were the Director I am sure you would ruin it, just as would I. Why don't you lay off the cheap morality hiding your hatred, ignorance and intolerance. Try a little "Live and Let Live." That's what your god would do. Or are you one of those "God Hates Fags" Christians?

I wont dignify your rantings with much of a response. But yes prior to 1977 there were no gay AA meetings. Read my article "The betryal of Alcoholics Anonymous" if you want the history. Back then there were "Alcoholics Together" meetings which were Gay but not affiliated with AA. Thats fine but I think AA made a big mistake when they gave a stamp of approval to the homosexual lifestyle.
As far as Judging. Read my article on it. You dont even understand what Judging is.

ok, where is your "article" on judging. I'm curious how a person like you will manage to twist even a simple word that I've known as long as I could understand into something incomprehensible in order to justify your egotistical and unchristian judging of the souls of other human beings. Can't be any more twisted than the defenses of slavery based on the bible were, could it? You call what I say a rant so you can avoid the content. I'll say it nicely. Your lord would go to a gay aa meeting instead of condemning the people who do, and do it with love. A pharisee is a person who twists up religion to suit his prejudices and then forces it on others. You are doing these things, quite obviously, and in a way that has been done before. It was used to justify killing Indians. It was used to justify enslaving Africans. More harm's been done by people like you in the name of Jesus than anyone invoking the devil ever did. Humans just twist god to their morals instead of adjusting to "His." Peace bro. I'm outta here. I hope you fail in your bigoted mission of intolerance. The world could use a little humility from the Christians. Live and let live.

I think you can see you just cant reason with these people. Just for record I am not for slavery or killing indians. My message is not one of lies, hate, and intolerance.
It is a message of truth.love, and redemption from sin.
Gays are not equivalent to women, blacks, youth, lawyers, doctors, and airline pilots.
The first official Gay AA meetings where I got sober occured in 1978, after I got sober. I know becaues I was an intergroup rep for the Saturday Night speakers meeting at the Friendship Club, and saw the vote which was very controversial.
