Alcoholics Anonymous and Christianity

Is Alcoholics Anonymous Christian? I dont think any fair-minded person would argue that it is. In fact, there are aspects of the AA program that no one trying to live a Christian life could accept. However, AA wasnt always that way. Here is an excerpt from the First Edition of Alcoholics Anonymous (which most AA's have never read).

" It is an easy matter to repeat and orally affirm a faith. Here were these men whovisited me and they, like myself, had tried everything else and although it was plain to be seen none of them were perfect, they were living proof that the sincere attempt to follow the cardinal teaching of Jesus Christ was keeping them sober. If it could do that for others, I was resolved to try it, believing it could do something for me also."
