Ted,Your belief that addiction is caused by PTSD is simply wrong, and a perfectexample of the Addictive Voice. Anyone can permanently quit drinkingregardless of any past traumas. The use of alcohol and other drugs is not tocope with miseries, as you suggest, but for the unspeakable pleasure theyproduce. PTSD is no excuse for drunkenness.

Dear Jack:
I wasnt making excuses just explaining causes. And Yes they can stop drinking regardless of the traumas, but to really find peace of mind they have to resolve the hatred caused by the traumas.
This is the reason I could not recommend Rational Recovery to stop drinking or drugs. They dont really know what they are talking about.
BTW, Jack I am available to debate the causes and solution of alcohol/drug addiction at any time and on any forum.

I'm with you on this one Jack. No excuses, Who are the real victims...I'd say the long suffering family members.
Sorry I don't buy the "I have a psychological problem" it's a tacky old cliche.

I just finished dealing with a young lady with a heroin addiction. Her mother admitted to me she hated her when she was a child for no other reason than she looked like the father she hated. Her mom knows she is the cause of her being on drugs.
The young lady hates her mom with a passion, and that is the root of her addiction.
The young lady is a victim of her parents. It is true that the family has suffered from her actions but when you understand the root causes, you understand she is a victim.
In fact, let me so bold to say that if you have a kid on drugs it is your fault.

Its not blame. It is an understanding of causes. Its true that addictiion is driven by the desire to seek out pleasure at all costs. What you don't see is that often, the evil spirit that is planted in the addict originally came from the parents. Something the late exorcist, Dr. Malachai Martin (advisor to 2 Popes) called "Generational possession". But I am sure you don't believe that. And that is the real problem. You don't even know who the real enemy is: IT IS A SPIRIT

The only spiritual enemy is the one waiting in the next bottle. Why a person starts (pleasure) has nothing to do with why they want to stop (pain).
What lies between is ambivalence... It's simple really!!!
