HOSTAGE TO THE DEVIL

One of my favorite books is Hostage to the Devil written by the late Malachai Martin. For those who work in the field of addiction treatment and doubt the reality of demonic possession this book is a must read. It was published in March 1976 and is as fresh as the day it was written.
It documents the possession and exorcism of 5 living Americans.

Here is an excerpt:

"Many exorcists think that the majority of the partially possessed who rebel this way never get priestly help. They are taken to doctors and psychiatrists who never succeed in helping them......The subjects may often spend time in mental institutions and there they will become progressively worse as their awful battle goes on"

So now you understand why psychiatry, with rare exceptions, is not able to help addicts and alcoholics.
